You can see the trees in the background suggest that the riverbed used to run on one
side of these trees, but now it's split and runs on both sides. There were several
places where the old cypress trees were lined up in the middle of the river like this.
Day 2 was Chenault Crossing to Tarplay Crossing. Chenault crossing was
not evident on the road maps but was available on the map we obtained
from Fred Collins. This was a much easier put-in than the
4mile bridge. Similarly Tarplay was recommended as a better take-out and
I'll believe him. As with the 1st day. The river provided lots of small
rapids with only brief pauses to eat, drink, and appreciate the wild
flowers.
Total trip time for day 2 was ~6hrs? A bit long for people with crunchy
knees, but lots of fun.
Ed's note: The pace provided plenty
of time for Brad to sneak in a couple of unplanned hydrotherapy lessons.
These were done at two prime surfing locations where Brad also got a little
geometry refresher course on acute angles.
