| Here's Ann and Fred cooking breakfast. We camped on river right about half way around the bend at mile 804.5. A very nice site with plenty of room, and very firm even though it flooded well over this level. This part of the canyon is pretty narrow and tall. A great introduction to the canyons ahead. I know it must be hard to appreciate from a picture like this, but the canyon walls here are nearly a thousand feet high and only about a hundred yards apart at the bottom. You really feel like a little speck in here, and I have to fight the feeling that something is going to fall on my head at any time- something the size of a city block, and made of solid rock. It is a pretty humbling feeling being here. ->Next |
